Skydance New Media will partner with Marvel Entertainment to develop a story-driven blockbuster action-adventure game that aims to offer a “whole new” story and perspective on the Marvel universe. The project is described as an AAA project. The studio Skydance New Media was founded by Amy Hennig (Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3; failed Star Wars project Ragtag) and Julian Beak (formerly EA) to develop story-oriented, interactive games – as a convergence of games, film and television.
“The Skydance New Media team is committed to creating detailed, interactive experiences that are suitable for traditional gaming platforms as well as emerging streaming services, and that are engaging, inviting and accessible to a global audience,” it says in the announcement.
“I can’t think of a better partner than Marvel for our first game,” said Amy Hennig, president of Skydance New Media. “The Marvel Universe embodies all of the action, mystery, and thrill of the pulp adventure genre that I love so much and is perfect for an interactive experience. It’s an honor to have an original story with all of the humanity that comes with it Telling the complexity and humor that make Marvel characters so immortal, and allowing our players to embody the heroes they love. “
