Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2: LinkedIn profile indicates use of Unreal Engine 5
A LinkedIn profile confirmed that Obsidian Entertainment may have chosen to use Unreal Engine 5 to develop the Avowed e The Outer Worlds 2. In the past there was talk of adopting the Epic Games engine for one of the two, without any official confirmation, but in reality it looks like we’re going to see it in action with both.
The revealing profile is that of tool programmer Paul Miller, who is working on both games and is expressly involved in developing plug-ins to improve the use of Unreal Editor 4 or 5. Miller is part of a group working to improve the development tools, made up of nine people, who work on all the studio’s projects.
So it makes sense that the Pillars of Eternity developer decided to use a single engine for everything, so he can unify his technological efforts and not waste resources. In this way, the developed tools can be used by everyone.
Looks like Obsidian is using Unreal Engine 5 for The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed đź‘€

If everything is confirmed, Obsidian would be another Xbox Game Studios using Unreal Engine 5. In fact, he would be in excellent company, as they also made the same choice in inXile, Ninja Theory e The Coalition. It’s hard to say when Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 will hit the market, but hopefully it won’t be too long.
In the meantime, we are also waiting Josh Sawyer’s new game, which appears to be at an advanced stage of development and may even be released in 2022.
