Cooperative action RPG is fighting its way out of Early Access

On October 21, 2021, the Spanish developers Novarama released their cooperative action role-playing game Killsquad for PC and officially ended Early Access after more than two years. A launch discount of 15 percent on the regular retail price will be granted on Steam until October 28 (16.99 euros instead of 19.99 euros). The more than 2,000 user reviews submitted to date are “mostly positive”, those of the last 30 days are even “very positive”.

The game description says: “Welcome to Killsquad: a co-op action game that combines twin-stick shooter, hack and slash and drops with a pinch of character customization and progression. Join us on a journey to five planets full of enemies to destroy. Choose your hero , choose your skills, weapons, equipment and talismans and unleash Hell through waves of relentless enemies and fearsome bosses.

Killsquad offers hectic, direct, skill-oriented controls on the keyboard or gamepad. Shoot fast, dodge fast, or die faster. Our core are short, 10-20 minute adrenaline-charged contracts that you can enjoy alone or with up to 4 friends in co-op. So it feels a bit like a twin stick shooter. Or a hack and slash. Or a top-down dungeon crawler. Or science fiction bullet hell. Well it feels like killsquad. And it’s great fun to play alone or with others.

Killsquad offers five hero classes to choose from, each with their own weapons and skills. These combine melee and ranged characters to suit different play styles. During your adventures, you can acquire and equip powerful upgrades for any of your skills that are activated during your contracts. And if you survive, claim your bounty to spend on tons of new gear like weapons, power-ups, and gear or cosmetics.

Fight your way through +30 contracts on the campaign map and visit five planets. Hop on with your friends or another bounty hunter. You can come to the aid of another squad by joining them in real time in the middle of the mission. Cooperate to win each contract or compete against each other for the highest scores.

Obtain weapons and equipment with unique properties that affect your hero’s abilities. Earn the trust of the unseen by finding their talismans: strong and complex artifacts with exciting passive effects. But be careful, these skills are harmful at first, but through exertion and killing, many monsters can become powerful items. Use everything in combination with your skills and upgrades to create groundbreaking builds and make the heroes your own.

But this party would not be complete without the main course: the enemies. Hordes and waves of disruptive enemies will make their way towards you, clawing and biting until nothing is left. But don’t worry, you’ll be fine. It’s the bosses that make you tremble. More than 15 bosses will put you to the test, each with different mechanics and unique ways to be defeated. ”
