The prestigious British magazine Edge released its list of the ten best games of the year 2021, which sees Deathloop by Arkane Studios as the GOTY ie as its game of the year 2021.
The list is somewhat controversial since, in the top 10, Halo Infinite was left out… Well, but taste is taste, right? If you’re interested, check out the top ten games of the year for Edge Magazine:
- Chicory: A Colorful Tale
- Dungeon Encounters
- Forza Horizon 5
- Monster Hunter Rise
- Hitman 3
- Bonfire Peaks
- Psychonauts 2
As you’ve read, Edge’s Top 10 features some really special picks as well as some confirmations. Deathloop is praised for the way it manages its multiple paths giving the player the possibility to choose how to face the unique days that make up the adventure.
In the second position we find Chicory: A Colorful Tale, whose ability to combine creativity with a strong and deep narrative is enhanced. Thirdly, the RPG Wildermyth, whose meta game nature and the amount of truly meaningful choices entrusted to the player are appreciated, unlike other titles in the genre where freedom is only apparent.
In addition to Deathloop, Xbox Game Studios was also represented by Forza Horizon 5 and Psychonauts 2, both games were highly acclaimed by both critics and audiences.
