Fan project brings back the online hangout

Six years after the PlayStation Home servers were shut down, a fan project wants to revive the social platform. Behind this is the Destination Home team, who had already released an offline version of PlayStation Home for emulators or modded PS3 consoles. Together with the fan group from PlayStation Online Network Emulated (PSONE), the online meeting point is now to be launched again as a multiplayer experience.

As in the past, players can join public and private rooms. Meeting points are the Hub, Bowling Alley or the Playground. Your own apartment can also be furnished according to your own wishes. PlayStation Home was released as a beta by Sony for the PlayStation 3 in 2008. In March 2015, the service was then switched off – still as a beta version. Sony is sticking to the trademark, however: the naming rights were not extended until the summer of 2021.

At the beginning of the week, the PSONE team managed to bring back Motorstorm’s online servers. For some time now, titles such as Warhawk, SOCOM Confronation, Killzone 2, Twisted Metal Black and Call All Cars have also been available. In addition to Destination Home, WipeOut HD, Resistance and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal are currently being planned.
