Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer is now available on Xbox and PC. If you play it on a computer via Steam, then it helped Xbox Game Studios set some new records. Although the multiplayer preview has been available for some time now, users will finally be able to enjoy it in a much more accessible way. However, after being away for less than a day, the game has already achieved great success on a particular platform.
As noted by Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad, the game has already become Xbox Game Studios’ “Best Hit” Game on Steam of all time. In less than three hours, it peaked at 162,000 concurrent users – effectively surpassing its other recent release, Forza Horizon 5.
At the time of this writing, that number has peaked at 272,586 simultaneous players. It’s right below Valve’s Counter-Strike titles: Global Offensive and Dota 2. Of course, we’ll continue to monitor the number of players, but it’s already a record breaker.
Again, the game is free – this is something to consider, but it’s also worth considering that this number doesn’t even include Xbox gamers and Windows Store users. Besides that it was a multiplayer released on a Monday without any prior publicity marketing.
