Lovecraft’s pixel horror haunts the PC

On August 27, 2021, Obscure Tales and Neon Doctrine released their Cthulhu myth-inspired 2D survival horror game Lamentum for PC. On Steam, where the previous user reviews have been “very positive”, a launch discount of ten percent on the regular retail price will be granted until September 3rd (14.39 euros instead of 15.99 euros). A free demo is also available. On PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, the launch is scheduled for August 31st. The pixel horror, which was successfully financed by Kickstarter two years ago, can be pre-ordered with a ten percent discount via Microsoft Store and eShop.

In the game description it says: “In Lamentum you will join Victor, a young aristocrat, who embarks on a desperate journey to find a cure for a rare disease. Our last hope lies in a dark mansion ruled by a count who will grant every wish can, but …. at what price? Villa Grau Hill will open its doors and transport us into a world of nightmares in which we can be trapped forever.

Lamentum is a pixel art horror survival game set in New England in the mid-19th century. To solve the dark secret hidden in the depths of Villa Grau Hill, you must immerse yourself in a nightmarish world full of terrible creatures. Choose carefully who you can trust, every decision you make can change the course of history. Will you survive

Our references are video games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but we are also inspired by the Cthulhu myth which we have adapted to our own vision. We want to make Lamentum a dark, adult-themed game where the player can enjoy a classic survival horror game. ”
