The Italian developer Milestone celebrates its 25th anniversary. But even before the studio was renamed in 1996, the developer, at that time still under the name Graffiti, caused a sensation. After entering the gaming world with a version of the puzzle game Super Loopz in 1994 and the PC title Iron Assault a year later, the Milan-based studio achieved its breakthrough in autumn 1995 with a title that would set the course for the next quarter of a century : Screamer, better known in this country as Bleifu.
The sequel was then also created under the Milestone logo. Dozens of racing game series (some with well-known licenses) should follow in the next 25 years: Moto GP, Ride, WRC, SBK, Racing Evoluzione, SCAR, MXGP, Sebastian Loeb Rally Evo, Gravel etc., to name just a few. The fact that many of them, like Hot Wheels Unleashed recently, performed rather average in our test, is just a side effect on the occasion of the anniversary. The fact is that Milestone dominates the racing game market (especially in the two-wheeler area) like no other studio.
4Players joins the congratulations given by the Milestone parent company Koch Media (in turn part of the Embracer Group), represented by Klemens Kundratitz, Managing Director of Koch Media GmbH in a press release:
“We are very proud to have Milestone in our group. Your commitment to the production of high quality, immersive racing games has more than proven itself over time! Who knows what the next 25 years will bring! “
Luisa Bixio, CEO von Milestone, ergnzt: “25 years are an important anniversary. It is amazing how much intelligence, passion and commitment Milestone has shaped in these 25 years and how many challenges, successes and moments of satisfaction we have experienced! And even after so many years, we still have a lot of fun! Simply because we love what we do – and: We are ready for the next 25 years.”
