Players are concerned about the Back 4 Blood solo campaign

There’s been a lot of excitement surrounding the release of Back 4 Blood on Xbox Game Pass next Tuesday, but the game is now available to Deluxe and Ultimate Edition owners, and first impressions are coming.

The good news? Looks like people are really enjoying the game so far, and we had a chance to play it a bit with lots of good things to say too. However, there is one big downside that is dominating the Back 4 Blood community in terms of discussion right now, and that is that playing solo with bots has a big disadvantage.

The downside is that you can’t earn supply points when playing in the solo or singleplayer campaign. Supply Points are essentially the main form of progression in Back 4 Blood, allowing you to gain everything from Cards to cosmetics for playing and completing certain tasks, and you won’t get any of them unless you play online (with at least one other person). Besides, it seems that too there is no way to unlock achievements when playing the campaign alone.

You are forced to play online to earn anything in this game. Huge disappointment. I hope they change this. from Back4Blood

Of course, Back 4 Blood has always been centered primarily on play online with friends or strangers, but the fact that you can’t progress the same way when playing offline is definitely not ideal. It’s a shame too, based on experiences with it so far, the bots have been much improved compared to the recent Beta.

Developer Turtle Rock Studios hasn’t commented on the feedback yet, but the Back 4 Blood Twitter account is being bombarded with comments about the lack of solo progression at the moment, so we’ll see if it works out. If you want to try it out next week, you can pre-download Back 4 Blood now with Xbox Game Pass.
