Speedrunner masters story in under an hour

It usually takes an average of 20-25 hours for players to complete the story of Pokmon Shining Pearl or Pokmon Shining Diamond. For the YouTuber and speed runner “Werster”, however, that takes far too long. So he was looking for the fastest possible way to fight his way through the Games – with considerable success.

As he documents in a recently released video, he managed to play the story through in less than an hour. His previous record is 50 minutes and 36 seconds. As he himself explains, there is still a lot of room for improvement in this regard, so that shorter speed runs are definitely possible. But how did he actually do it so quickly? The magic formula for this is: glitches. “Werster” used some of these holes in the game to move forward particularly efficiently. Among other things, this enabled him not only to skip parts of the time-consuming tutorial, but also to move outside the actual map. With the help of another glitch, he was even able to bypass the tough rivalry that gives even gamers some headaches – and accordingly devours a lot of time.

The speedrunner makes it clear in his video that everything was only possible or is still possible because Pokmon Luminous Pearl and Pokmon Radiant Diamond are in a technically anything but perfect condition. Since the launch, there have been several reports of bugs and other problems.

Pokmon Shining Pearl and Pokmon Shining Diamond were released for Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2021.
