STALKER 2 – Heart of Chernobyl: Developer GSC Game World announces NFTs for the survival shooter

Ubisoft is doing it with the NFTs in Ghost Recon Wildlands and others are following suit: As reported by The Verge, GSC Game World has decided to release so-called NFTs (‘Non-Fungible Tokens “.

For this purpose, GSC Game World has announced the “STALKER Metaverse”, which will use blockchain technology so that “the community owns a piece of STALKER 2.” This includes the possibility of becoming the “very first Metahuman”, which GSC Game World seems to define as a very detailed rendered NPC character. To become a “Metahuman”, players can bid on an NFT that will be auctioned off in January 2022. To do this, the developer studio works with the NFT platform DMarket. Whoever “owns” the NFT in order to become an in-game NPC can sell or keep it until a certain date after the auction.

How exactly the owner of the NFT gets into the game, Evgeniy Grygorovych (CEO of GSC Game World) explains in an e-mail statement to The Verge: “The idea of the NFT is to give its owner the right to choose their own identity by an in-game NPC. The person has to come to our studio for a detailed scanning process. Then we have everything to make the person appear as one of the characters in the game world. ”

GSC Game World plans to publish other NFTs in addition to the “Metahumans”, but has not yet given any details. In addition, according to the developers, the NFTs will not have any influence on the game.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be released on April 28, 2022 for PC and Xbox Series X | S.
