The role-playing game The Elder Scrolls 5: Skryrim is celebrating its tenth birthday: The modern RPG classic came onto the market in November 2011 and is very popular even ten years after its publication – not least thanks to the recently released Anniversary Edition. As an accompaniment to the festivities, the documentary with the long name “A Skyrim Documentary – You’re Finally Awake: Nine Developers Recount the Making of Skyrim”, published at the beginning of the month, comes in handy.
This behind-the-scenes video is from Jonah Lobe, who once worked as a character artist at Bethesda on The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim (from 10,98€ at buy) has contributed. On the occasion of the milestone anniversary, he wants to give fans the chance to take a look behind the scenes. According to his own statements, he had planned this project for a long time, but due to the global corona pandemic and its effects, both the preparations and the actual implementation went differently than originally thought. The result is still worth seeing, as the documentation contains a lot of information and small details that could be new even to die-hard fans. This ranges from the first concepts before the actual development to the current effects of Skyrim on meme culture.
As part of the 50-minute long documentary, numerous former Bethesda employees have their say, including level designer Joel Burgess and programmer Jean Simonet, all of whom talk about the sewing process.
