The release date and the complete game list for the mini version of the classic Amiga 500 home computer have been set

The heyday of miniature versions of well-known retro systems seems to be over. With the PC Engine Core Grafx Mini, the last major “big” new edition of iconic retro systems was released in mid-2020. But next year fans of the good old days of gaming will get their money’s worth again when Koch Media publishes the THEA500 Mini developed by Retro Games. The mini version of the Commodore Amiga 500 is to appear on March 25, 2022, as has now been announced. At the same time, another game was announced, so that the list of integrated titles has grown to 25.

And the presumably last new addition has it all: It is a stunt car racer from developer legend Geoff Crammond. When it premiered in 1989, the racing game achieved top marks, including 93% in the Amiga format magazine and 92% in CU Amiga-64.

The official product description:

THEA500 Mini pays homage to the 1980s, the heyday of 16-bit computers; inspired by the release of the Amiga 500 in 1987, which included a 16/32 bit CPU, 512 KB RAM and a range of custom chips for the production of first class sound and video.

Owners of the THEA500 Mini can play one of the 25 included classic Amiga games, which they can choose from an easy-to-use menu carousel. Or they load their own games via USB stick with full WHDLoad support and a range of options to choose from. In addition, owners of the THEA500 Mini can save and continue their game at any time so that they can play even the most difficult classics to the end.

Retro Games Ltd. THEA500 Mini developed and distributed by Koch Media offers the perfect emulation not only of the original A500 (OCS) and the Enhanced Chip Set (ECS) of future versions, but also of the Advanced Graphics Architecture (AGA) of the A1200.

The THEA500 Mini comes with the 2-button mouse in the original design and the newly developed 8-button precision gamepad, so that owners of the THEA500 Mini can choose their control method themselves. To complement the screen keyboard, owners of the THEA500 Mini can connect an external standard PC keyboard to use additional functions.
