The Xbox Series X Shortage Is Even Affecting Halo Infinite Esports

Halo Infinite is hosting its first LAN tournament today with the Halo Championship Series Kickoff Major Raleigh 2021, but even with a competition as prestigious as this one, not enough Xbox Series X consoles for all.

Instead, competitors will use development kits Series X, described as “functionally identical”. They will be “operating in ‘Retail’ mode, so it’s exactly the same experience.” The reason, of course, is the continuing scarcity of the Series X:

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the event, which will see teams from all over the world battling it out in the coming days for a share of the $250,000 starting prize pool. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic show.

Here are the broadcast times for each day:

  • Friday December 17th: 14hrs
  • saturday december 18th: 15hrs
  • sunday december 19th: 12hrs

You can watch the event live on Twitch, the Halo channel or the Halo Championship Series channel. As for the Xbox Series X shortage, unfortunately there is still no end in sight.
