Valheim: Update 1: Hearth & Home is ready

The first content update “Hearth & Home” has been released for Valheim (Early Access). In addition to new parts of the building (window hatches, dark wood materials, raven decorations), extensions for the hob (spice rack, butcher’s table, pots and pans), other recipes and the new food system, Update 1 will soon have its riches in neat and not quite so neat ones Stacking can hoard. All other loot or supplies can be deposited in new treasure chests and locked away behind iron bars.

With Hearth & Home, the food system is being revised. Food is generally divided into three boosting categories (health, stamina and a mixture of both values), which makes the choice of food more important depending on the game action (building, fighting, exploring, etc.). If you fight a lot, you should continue to rely on stamina food in order to be able to distribute a lot. If you play more defensively (tank), you should eat “health food”, as the block value will soon be based on the maximum health value. In addition, the health should be directly connected to the new “Stagger bar” (to the right of the Viking). This bar shows when your character is staggered or stunned by attacks. In addition, the duration of the food effects is visualized more clearly. A numerical value can also be seen on the stamina bar. Tower shields should be significantly improved (keyword: recoil) and better suited for the defensive play style, especially when fighting against several opponents.

While tamed Lox now have “a purpose”, players can name their pets. In addition, other features requested by players have been added, including the sharing of cards (card table), additional seeds for different tree species (birch, oak, onion) and the “Obliterator” as an extension of the base, with which you can destroy superfluous objects. Additionally, something dark and mysterious is hinted at in the following trailer that seems to be spreading across the plains. You can find the change log here. In the latest developer video, the developers also stated that it would be better to create a new game world in order to be able to experience the new events.
