Windows 11 start to be released for download; “a new era”

Windows 11 is now officially available for download and is being called “the new era of PCs” by itself. While Redmond will release Windows 11 hardware worldwide on October 5, the company has made the OS update available in advance for eligible devices in New Zealand and beyond. If you purchased a Windows 10 machine recently, that means you should be able to upgrade to Windows 11 now.

That way, as in New Zealand it’s already the 5th of October, they’ll get Windows 11 first. Microsoft said that the new operating system will be released by hours, so from midnight onwards is when it will start being released for PCs in Brazil.

For everyone else, the launch of Windows 11 will be gradual. Microsoft says that existing Windows 10 devices that are eligible for the Windows 11 upgrade will begin to be able to upgrade today, but it will be most new hardware that will receive the upgrade immediately. Microsoft states: “We hope that all qualifying Windows 10 devices will receive the Windows 11 upgrade until mid 2022”.

As with Windows 10, it may take a while for the update to show up for you, so be patient. As stated above, Microsoft said it could take until the middle of next year. An hour appears.

You can check whether the Windows 11 update is available in the Windows Update section in the Windows 10 settings area. if you want to skip the queue and install immediately just use the new Microsoft Installation Wizard:

  • Go to the Windows 11 software download page.
  • If you want to do this the easiest way, use the Windows 11 Setup Wizard; just click “Download now” and follow the instructions.
  • You can also create a bootable USB or DVD by selecting “Create Windows 11 Installation Media”.
  • And finally you can download a disk image (ISO) for bootable media or a virtual machine installation

Windows 11 includes a new user interface, a redesigned Start menu, a revamped Microsoft Store, Widgets, Microsoft Teams integration, built-in Xbox Cloud Gaming, built-in Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series technologies like Direct Storage, and more.

The new Surface devices will go on sale on October 5th with Windows 11 pre-installed, along with new PCs and laptops from Asus, Lenovo and HP. Other PC makers like Acer, Dell and Samsung will also be releasing new Windows 11 devices soon.
